Barack Obama’s Inaugural Address
Thornwillow Press is pleased to announce the coming publication of President Barack Obama’s Inaugural Address delivered on January 20, 2009. This important speech marked a turning point in American history and presented his vision for the future and his road map for how he plans to get there. Over the past twenty four years, Thornwillow publications have often marked milestones and the volumes have in retrospect become time capsules for our times. At Thornwillow, we believe that President Obama’s speech is such a moment in history, that it will be looked back on as a defining moment for our country.
To celebrate this turning point and to preserve it, we have designed and letterpress printed the President’s words in a special limited edition of 550 copies. The text is accompanied by two photographs of President Obama by official White House photographer Pete Souza and two vignettes hand cut by master engraver John Wallace. Each copy is individually numbered and is available in three bindings:
Half cloth and blue paste paper in a slip case
Pre-publication $325 (After publication $375)
Blue paste paper wrapper
Pre-publication $50 (After publication $65)
All of the design, letterpress printing, engraving and binding is being completed at Thornwillow Press in Newburgh, New York.
The publication date for this volume is July 4th, 2009 but we are offering to existing Thornwillow collectors and friends the opportunity to subscribe to the edition in advance. As the book is still in the bindery, orders will be delivered as the are completed in the order that they are reserved.
